Talking Sustainability with Lupe Castro

I am beyond honoured that the incredible Lupe Castro, renowned creative director, writer, fashion expert took the time to do this interview with me.

Ms Castro established her indubitable reputation in the industry as one of the first digital influencers, blogging under the alias of Ms Castro Rides. The blog records the travel diary of this stylish woman, including Fashion week articles, where to go, what to shop and what to eat, from her many travels and if you are following her on instagram you will have noticed her celebration of the LBGT community and her inspiring advocacy for young sustainable designers.

1. Tell us about yourself and what you do...

As an entrepreneur I have my fingers in many projects. At the moment I am writing, styling and adding the fashion content to events.

2. What does sustainability mean to you?

In fashion it means making your own choices and accepting the consequences of them.

3. How does sustainability or ethics play into your work?

One of the most important things in my work is respect! That means making informed choices. I am far from perfect but I try.. I also have a massive collection of vintage clothing which I always try to incorporate into my everyday looks. Some of the pieces for far as 1920, I guess vintage fashion is my form of sustainable thinking by reusing and reconstructing what already exists.

4. Who are your favourite sustainable brands?

Oh dear there are so many now and each day a new one pops onto my horizon like your own brand. If I give you the top four I wear ..because I have a lot of their pieces

Wilfred Pletzinger @pletzinger  is one we go a long way

Phoebe English @phoebeenglish

Outsider Fashion @outsiderfashion

5. What is next on the agenda for you? Sustainably or ethically?

I am in the process of doing a project for Outsider fashion on her multiway dress

And of course my project Fashion Space where I host designer each month for some special projects.
