Podcasts and documentaries for nerds & other interesting people 2 of 3

Is there anything better than to truly indulge in a new topic and becoming a bit of en expert on that? I hated school but love information and education therefore any subject told as a good story is the best thing I know.

Podcasts, documentaries and Tedtalks are brilliant for discovering something you never thought you would ever be interested in. These are my personal recommendations and I am quite confident that you will enjoy.

The 2nd list of recommended nerd-ness is here and this time it is documentaries. Go nuts!

  • Wild, wild country: The story about the religious cult of Rajneeshpuram and the settlement they created in Antelope, Oregon.

  • Amanda Knox: Did Amanda Knox kill her roommate? watch this doc and hear the story from Amanda self.

  • Black fish: This is a few years old but nonetheless VERY important. It is the story of Tilikum, a captive killer whale that has taken the lives of several people. This documentary highlights the problems of the animal park industry.

  • The true cost: If you do not know about Rhana plaza or have ever thought much about who makes your clothes then watch this. It will make you think twice next time you go shopping.

  • Planet Earth I & II / Blue planet I & II: Legendary nature and animal documentaries narrated by the even more legendary David Attenborough. You have to see them.

  • Making a Murderer: If you like Serial podcasts then this case will be something for you. Follow the story of Steven Avery and ponder the big question; Did he do it ??

  • Professor Brian Cox is a physicist and an absolute rock star. He has made a series of documentaries explaining the solar system, the universe, The quantum universe, the human universe and the forces of nature. If you are not interested in science and you are worried whether the topic will be interesting just watch it, because Brian Cox can make anything interesting and you will definitely become smarter.

  • Before the flood: narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, A moving documentary about the global climate change. Before the Flood presents a riveting account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world due to climate change, as well as the actions we as individuals and as a society can take to prevent the disruption of life on our planet.

  • Mercury 13: Women in space .. What is the problem? apparently that they are not men? .. Insert rolling eye emoji.

  • The minimalists: Does all your stuff make you happy? Think about it. Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus did a 180 on their corporate lives and found happiness.

  • Evil Genius: I am not even going to say anything here .. If you like making a murderer then this is it.

  • Decanted: Pop a bottle of nice wine and imagine you are in Napa Vally for a moment.

  • One year in Champagne: A beautiful story about the wine harvest in Champagne. I felt much smarter about wine after watching this and I now have a strong urge to move to France and become a wine farmer.
